Let Your Voice Be Heard

Join your fellow business leaders to discuss legislative issues that need to be addressed by the General Assembly. The South Carolina Chamber of Commerce’s 2010 Grassroots Regional Meeting, set for August 31st at the North Augusta Municipal Building from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

There is no charge for this meeting, but you do need to register.

The Grassroots meetings are held in conjunction with local chambers of commerce across the state. These meetings are considered to be the first step in forming the 2011 Competitiveness Agenda, the business community’s annual list of legislative priorities. During each meeting, attendees are invited to share their business concerns and provide feedback on what pro-business legislation needs to be passed to improve South Carolina’s business climate.

Artisan’s Fair Gala – Friday Night

Please come out and join us Friday Night, April 16th, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. to open the 2010 Artisan’s fair at the Living History Park in North Augusta.

Olde Towne and its friends and supporters are planning a high quality art festival in this beautiful park. The site is green and shady with a lovely central lawn and a gurgling stream. A colonial tavern, outdoor beehive oven, blacksmith shop, smoke house, and eighteenth century meeting house contribute to the serene atmosphere of the park. The park is a gem and a perfect site for an arts festival.

The purpose of this The Artisans’ Fair is to highlight a wide array of Fine Artists and Skilled Artisans. In addition to booths displaying items for sale, several sites throughout the park will have craftsmen demonstrating their skills. The park with its greenery, stream, footbridge, and eighteenth century buildings is a wonderful backdrop for a top-notch festival.

Our goal, as always, is to produce a top tier event that is profitable, enjoyable for the artists, and exciting for the visitors; a place where each artist is made to feel at home and will look forward to coming back each year. We want this to be the one event each year that you will put on your calendar in ink rather than pencil.

The Festival will start on Friday night with a preview Gala. Again this year the North Augusta Chamber of Commerce will join us in hosting this Gala. Visitors who attend this special—and free—preview will be able to meet the artists, partake of music, wine, cheese, and hors d’oeuvres, and be the first to see and purchase the fine arts and crafts.

North Augusta’s 21st annual Jack-O-Lantern Jubilee. Thousands fill the street downtown as they gather for a variety of arts & craft vendors, continuous entertainment, children’s games and rides and, of course, the children’s costume contest!

Yellow Jessamine Festival – March 27th

The city and the North Augusta Cultural Arts Council will again partner to present the fourth annual 2010 Yellow Jessamine Festival in Downtown North Augusta! The event runs from 11:00am-9:00pm and celebrates the arts, the garden and music, with an art competition, show and sale, vendors of art and quality handmade crafts, a garden expo with garden speakers, vendors and exhibitors, free and fun children’s crafts and activities, and a variety of great food. The event culminates with a street party with live entertainment from Riptide and a fantastic fireworks finale!

Colonial Times, October 15th – 17th

The largest and oldest event is Colonial Times: A Day to Remember. Held the third weekend in October, this event offers an opportunity to understand what daily life was like for the people who settled our area. It was also named one of the top 20 events in the southeast by the Southeast Tourism Society in 2000, 2001 and 2004. In addition to several featured guests, the event features demonstrations in pottery, weaving and spinning, frontier trading, quilting, blacksmithing, meat curing, gold and silversmithing, candle making, and much more. It is a wonderful and informative event for the entire family.

Under The Crown, June 4th – 6th

June is the time for Under the Crown. It is 1780 and the colonies are in rebellion. Charleston is under Siege and may have already fallen, the rebel forces were defeated at Savannah last year in 1779. Things are not going well for the American cause. But the Rebels are not done yet!

See this conflict, a very uncivil war. Find out what happens when the Crown moves in, old scores are settled and lives are changed forever.
